The Caretaker 2002
Mr. Larmond was the caretaker for Pomona Hall for 23 yrs. He never knew it had been a plantation. He retired December 2004.

William Still
Abolitionist in Phila, Pa.and author of "The Underground Railroad" published in 1872. He helped enslaved africans cross the Delaware River to Camden, NJ - enroute to Canada. He hid at least 60 persons a month in his home. He was my great great grandfather.
The 3rd Floor 2002
18th Century Mansion Pomona Hall in Camden, NJ. set on a 412 acre Plantation. It was the Big House. Fourteen Enslaved Africans lived on the 3rd floor in the attic.
Pomona Hall #25  2002
A Bedroom of the Cooper Family on the 2nd floor of Pomona Hall. Marmaduke Cooper the Slave Master refused to give up his slaves until his death.  The Coopers were Quakers.
Patience 2001
After Philadelphia, Pa. did not want to continue paying the Tariff on Slaves -  they decided to sell them on the Jersey side instead. They were
sold on the auction block until 1765.

Ms. Mary Ford 1993
For a good while everybody worked in Camden. many worked at Campbell Soup, NY Ship Yard, etc. However, that all changed and Camden became one of the poorest cities in America for many years to come.

When their parents could not find a job for a long time, life was never the same.

No Industry - led quickly to No Jobs. Factories and Warehouses have been empty and beaten down for over forty years.
Mother and Child  2000
The Truth will continue to rise up. It is the natural order of things. So we must share those truths with our children, family, friends, the church,our community and the world at large. Only then can the healing process begin.
