Camden, New Jersey: From Slavery to Now

What started out as my Photographic Journey of now 31 years
of the City which I call Home; Has turned out to be a journey
revealing truths previously untold about the
Slavery & Plantations here in Camden, NJ USA.

From Slavery to so called Freedom, from Prosperous times to a long period of Decline; African Americans have withstood
the test of time, only to finally see a long awaited resurgence ~
We hope ...

This is the on going story of African Americans
up out of Camden, NJ, which has never been told in totality.
It shows in their eyes, in their stance,
in their hands, in their souls. I am  part of them.
I share this experience as a native of Camden as well as
being a part of the untold story of Slavery and Plantations in Camden, NJ which is America's Story - like it or not.

On this site and future documentaries, stories will be told through life to life dialogues,  vintage photos, letters and documents of the elders of Camden,
shared in the Oral History Series.

They are the stories of how African Americans got here
and the struggles and the joys during their stay.

Since I began the research on Slavery & Plantations  in Cooper's Ferry - now know as Camden, NJ some 8 years back,
I learned tremendous truths about our people
and the place  we call home.

This is our True Historic Past
and no matter what has happened -
We continue to Stand!
